Unlike other towns, South Woodham Ferrers does not benefit from a dedicated Youth Counselling service. This has a severe impact on young people who lack a local safe environment to discuss often harrowing circumstances. This can lead to some youths turning to crime and result in severe substance abuse, mental health issues and potentially produces a gang culture.

There would be a significant benefit in improving access to and provision of debt counselling services.
